Lemon Hearts

March 1996

Lemon Hearts was filmed in 1996 in Miami Beach, FL. This short film is about a young girl's dream to run a lemonade stand in order to raise money for a plane ticket to New Jersey in order to see snow for the first time.

Mary, James, and Eric were the crew from the MDCC film program and Jerome from Portuguese class helped out as well. Misty served as Fanny's assistant and as a 'creative liaison'. Lots of people came to help out and/or watch including characters from the Miami City Ballet box office like Mark and Nedra (with daughter Denise + her boyfriend). Carmen brought her son and nieces and nephews along for the fun. Eleven slipped in and out of the mess and managed to make a brief cameo appearance. We would grab neighbors as they walked by to appear as extras.

This was a great learning experience for everybody. We ran into a few technical problems, experienced a few minor disasters, and everybody was extremely exhausted by the end of the day. Still, we managed to pull together and get all the footage we needed. The final film turned out a little underexposed and with a couple 'missing parts' but everybody had a great time working on the film that day. Fanny reported the next day that she had dreams that night that she was flying...

Soon we will have a photo gallery of production stills from the shoot (many taken by Fanny herself!)
